Automobiles in German Town Found Covered with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Police Confirm

Officers mentioned they were alerted by a resident who discovered a car in Hanau smeared with red-colored liquid

Approximately fifty cars have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were marked, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they announced in a release.

Officers state they were contacted late on Wednesday evening, when a individual discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish liquid.

The substance had been placed in the pattern of a banned symbol, they reported.

Police then located many other marked vehicles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.

Swastikas are banned in Germany under regulations outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.

Police state early analysis show the fluid was likely human blood.

"Currently there is no indication as to its origin; authorities are presently not informed of any harm in association with the event," they added.

City officials stated they were working "to solve the incident" and have requested to the residents for details.

An important political figure stated the incident rendered him stunned and had to be solved rapidly.

"This incident strikes at the core of Hanau and reopens the pain of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he stated on online, mentioning the death of nine individuals by a gunman aiming at individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
