A person who spiked treats with sedative and distributed them to minors at a summer camp in the area has confessed to sexual crimes against two young males who were nine and 10.

Jon Ruben was taken into custody after eight children and a grown-up fell ill at the location in July.

The senior citizen, from the Nottinghamshire area, admitted guilt to a multiple criminal counts when he appeared at the judicial center on recently.

Yet, he disputed one of the sexual offences he was facing, which was against a nine-year-old boy.

The defendant was kept in jail before a subsequent court date on late November.

'Treat game'

The prosecutor, prosecuting, described the criminal behavior to the judicial body.

She stated his victims were under-privileged children who were attending a summer program which he ran.

Ruben played a "sweet game" with the minors, the prosecutor stated, in which he would go into the children's bedrooms when they were settling down and ask them to consume candy "as quickly as they can".

She stated to the judge Ruben had engaged in this activity with the boys "over an extended period", and minors had earlier experienced illness the following morning.

She stated Ruben had been able to explain this repeatedly as the youngsters being "overstimulated by activities", until his family member had concerns in summer 2025.

The legal representative continued: "Recently" his family member had suspicions about the activities, justifiably.

"They resolved" to have a look in the man's possessions."

Mrs Prior KC said objects including baby oil, ointment and syringes were located, and his family member notified the police about his worries.

She stated the man went on to play the "treat game" with six youngsters that time - that Saturday - and they were all sick the following morning.

"Authorities" had not gone out by that stage," she added.

The regulatory agency, the investigative body, previously told that it was examining Leicestershire Police's handling of the incident.

The prosecutor explained the children were struggling to walk due to their condition, so the stepson notified the police a second time.

She said the defendant then engaged in the "treat game" in a room of five children.
